Can't Change The Way I Am
You taunt me daily.
Your remarks keep me up all night.
Lack of sleep
‘cause your voice is always in my mind.
During the day, I don’t know what to say.
All you do is let me fall to the ground.
You look at me differently than others
But I want you to know
If you can see,
Then you can see who I really am inside.
If you can hear,
Then you can hear what I have to say.
All I have to say is
I may have a disability
But that doesn’t stop me from being who I am.
I may not hear well,
But that’s okay.
My imperfections make me the way I am.
If you haven’t noticed,
I am human too.
I have emotions.
I can walk. I can hear and I can talk.
Am I really that different from you?
Just listen what I have to say
If you can see,
Then you can see who I really am inside.
If you can hear,
Then you can hear what I have to say.
All I have to say is
I may have a disability
But that doesn’t stop me from being who I am.
I may not hear well,
But that’s okay.
My imperfections make me the way I am.
Your arrogant comments will never come through me.
You can’t decide if I’m pretty, if I’m smart, whether I am right or wrong.
Those words that come out of your mouth are meaningless to me.
I hope someday you will see through me
If you can see,
Then you can see who I really am inside.
If you can hear,
Then you can hear what I have to say.
All I have to say is
I may have a disability
But that doesn’t stop me from being who I am.
I may not hear well,
But that’s okay.
My imperfections make me the way I am.
You can’t change the way I am.
