Soldier
One more month
And not a minute to lose
I look up and down at a photo of you
I’m gonna miss you
This is gonna be so damn hard
I just wanna kiss you
And hold you in my arms
She’ll sit in class and pray to God
Then the moment when that pledge comes on
She’ll stand and salute to all those gone
Hoping her dad won’t be too long
One more month
And not a minute to lose
I’m gonna count every second that I have with you
Spend every hour keeping you close
Before that day when they say that you have to go
We write these letters to be nearby
But every night we cry and cry
We get stronger knowing you’re safe
But we just want to be in the same place
You fight our fight
But these are lonely nights
You image fades
But her hope lasts everyday
She’ll live and breathe that camoflauge
Then at her prom it will be her corsage
She looks up and down at a photo of you
Knowing just how much you miss her too
