Sublime Essence
He told me that as the violins kept playing
He and I would still be dancing together like this
But before I knew it, it all became a decrescendo
And I was left alone dancing myself to an imaginary bliss.

But then I saw you, your hand reached out towards me,
And I stood in the middle of the dance floor
Scared of what was to be
But as you grabbed my waist, it was something indescribably.

I slowly placed my hand on your shoulder
And the orchestra began playing just for the two of us
With every strum of the strings, our heartbeats harmonized into one melody
With each twirl and turn, your grasp became inescapably.

Darling, I know we haven’t even gotten to the bridge,
But there may just be a possibility
That we can be something more than what we are
As we dance into our eternity.

Each measure flies on by as we dance
Each step bringing us closer to a romance
But I know that the song will soon have to conclude
But I believe we are a whole symphony rather than an etude.

And ever so slightly, I hear the chords blend in with the silence,
And I see you look at me
And slowly move your hand from my waist to my wrist
And slowly make our infinite finale.

Darling, I know we haven’t even gotten to the bridge,
But there may just be a possibility
That we can be something more than what we are
As we dance into our eternity.
