Sky Blue and Black
As you call out to one another
In the distance that once was close,
The murmuring of the promises you made played back, ominous and low,
I can hear your voice whispered in echoes ringing across the sand,
The sky above me is unfolding from orange to black.
Now the fragments of all we had are blocked by the struggling in the clouds,
I always thought you'd hold me even when they'd get too close.
The clouds unfolded, the sky was bled, and the rain was here to stay.
Well, I'd never stop looking for you when you let go of my hand,
And I had space to run but nowhere to stand,
The shadows that once played before us shows another person in the way,
But you gave me your world and your promise that you were with me to stay.
The wind blows an ephemeral tune that unfolds another being unlike the soul we both knew,
But even though the stranger plays,
I'd give you the world if you wanted me to.
