Reality
Tears dried to her cheeks,
a frightful being arises.
Hair a reck, breath that smells
she begins to get ready for another day.
combs her hair and pins it back,
then makes her mouth fresh
she applies the makeup very carefully,
for this is what forms her into someone else.
Chorus:
Reality is nothing compared to
the wonderful dreams inside her head.
with happy endings and never
the need to shed a tear.
she slugs through the hall way,
barely alive.
but she has on her fake smile
and her fake shine.
She makes it through the school day,
talking to everyone,
telling them lies
lies of her being okay.
Once she gets home she throws her bag down
and goes back to bed.
returns to her dreams
far away from reality.
Someday she will fall asleep
and never wake up.
she will dream forever.
That will be the day her dreams become reality.
