Half of Me
The sun came up today just like they promised
And underneath the clouds, the sky is blue
Things are just the same as they were before
The only thing is before, I still had you
My eyes are red and sore from all the crying
I’d been cursed with restless sleep from dusk ‘til dawn
In my head I know there is no point in grieving
But I still can’t believe you’re really gone
What were you trying to prove?
What made you not want to stay?
If only I could’ve pushed you out of harms way
I knew that something was wrong
That’s why I followed you there
Could you see through the dark enough to know that I did care?
How can I move on?
You know you were the world to me
What happened to spending our lives together?
Because I’ve lost all of you
And half of me
Do you remember sitting in my boat
Messing around and having fun?
I saw that shining gleam in your eyes
As we watched the setting sun
I thought you’d tell me anything
I thought we were okay
I guess that I thought wrong
When I thought that you would never go away
What were you trying to prove?
What made you not want to stay?
You know I would’ve stood up for you any day
I knew that something was wrong
That’s why I followed you there
Now all that I can picture is the color of your hair
How can I move on?
You know you were the world to me
What happened to spending our lives together?
‘Cause I lost all of you
And half of me
I wish we could go back in time
Back to when we just first met
I can’t change that I lost you
But you, I’ll never forget
