Disillusioned
Seventeen is disappearing around the corner
My youth is sinking down to avoid boulders
I'd stay young forever
Life demands that I age better
Every year my eyes grow wetter
A disillusioned little girl had to wake up
I'm wiser now
Lessons are learned, but it's all too late
The path of my life has been left up to fate
I could teach you what I know
But you won't remember
(I didn't remember)
You'll learn all on your own
Experience teaches wisdom after breaking your bones
I can remember being a kid
Cutting out paper dolls, counting to twenty while they hid
Then hiding was a necessity
My father was a Nazi
The truth, for me, was costly
I'd never go back
Sleep was not an option
Stay awake and breathe with caution
I'm sleeping with a monster
Flaming up inside a toaster
I know too much
I'm wiser now
Lessons are learned, but it's all too late
The path of my life has been left up to fate
I could teach you what I know
But you won't remember
(Scars make you remember)
You'll learn all on your own
Experience teaches wisdom after breaking your bones
You'll be so much wiser when you're broken and torn
If I braid my dolly's hair
I would think how did she get here
Did her daddy disappear?
Oh...
I'm wiser now
Lessons are learned, but it's all too late
The path of my life has been left up to fate
I could teach you what I know
But you won't remember
(You won't remember)
You'll learn all on your own
Experience teaches wisdom after breaking your bones
I'm so much wiser, but I'm broken and torn
A disillusioned little girl had to wake up
