2022 Traditions Contest: My Favorite Part of Family
Over and over, again and again,
celebrating with family and friends.
All of us together since way back when,
spending Christmas, Thanksgiving, and weekends.
Exchanging presents, and good recipes,
nothing like cornbread for Thanksgiving feast.
Some are three, some are in their seventies,
mixed together like electrophorese.
Sharing love to everyone around,
so grateful for the family I have.
Let’s not forget everything we’ve found,
all the memories released like a calve.
I can look back on all of the pictures,
to remember all of the fun winters.
In this piece I mention cornbread, that is because every year at my grandparents house everyone goes crazy over the cornbread. I mean no one can make it as good as my grandma can. (We’ve tried). Also I have a younger cousin who’s like three who everyone says is just like me. They say that she looks like me and that she also acts like me. Every year we also end up looking at everyone’s photos considering my grandma has them displayed everywhere. In fact, she has everyone’s picture lined up in her living room, all with matching frames.
