My Mandatory Shakespearian Sonnet
Of time and of place, thy heart grows weary
And life, in her malice, hollows thy mind
Thy limbs grow weak, eyes clouded and bleary
Blind to all save the swift passing of time
Unanswered questions drift towards the breeze
Leaf upon leaf left bare or unturned ‘til,
Harsh winter sun gleams through lifeless trees
Afore thou hath reached the top of the hill
Embers grow fainter when unattended
As life withers at prospects unrealized
Thou must live for life to be mended
As stagnancy is merely death’s guise
‘Tis life that carries true meaning within
For to be and to live are not akin
