My Camp Within the Wood
There's a steady ache within me
A pain no eye can see.
 That place is calling, calling,
 Calling out to me.

"Come back!" it says so sweetly--
Oh, how I wish I could!--
"Come back!" my heart is crying,
"To your camp within the wood."

 I only left today,
 Indeed, eight hours ago,
But camp to me spells home,
My heart does tell me so.

What makes this place so special?
 Is it hiking, swimming, food?
But no, it is the people
Who put me in this mood.

They are so kind and gentle,
 Indeed, they are my friends.
 Yet more than them is Something;
Makes me wish it never ends.

What is this Thing so special?
 It's nothing you can touch.
I believe it's the Lord Jesus
 We love so very much.

He's blessed this camp so friendly,
 He's made it a success.
He gives the urge to go back
 So that it might progress.

I won't deny the fun and games
Are all so fun to do,
But when all games have past away,
His words will still be true.

 The scenery is so lovely,
 The people are all sweet.
The snack shack is a lovely place
 To get a favorite treat.

I'll remember all until I'm old,
 Shannon, Liv, and Ty.
We'll share good memories all our days
I'll look back until I die.

Oh! How I wish I was still there
 Basking in the sun!
If only time would pass faster!
I wish the year were done!

But then, I know I shall return
 To Adirondack height.
It's just a year I have to wait
 To see the glorious sight.

The sign at last comes into view
 Proclaiming loud the name
Of that camp above all other camps
 Spreading wide it's fame.

So do be patient for good things to come!
 I really wish I could.
But after all, someday I'll see
 My camp within the wood.
