Insomnia
Imaginary footsteps dancing in the night,
Imaginary people watching me in fright.
Books upon books unfolding in my head,
Tossing and turning, rolling in my bed.
Rearranging pillows, shifting blankets
The cold breeze blowing upon it.
Scenarios are happening deep inside my brain,
nothing keeping me from imaginary pain.
My Chinese lantern glows bright,
My baby brother, crying from fright.
I stare out the window, the starry sky,
My dreams come making me fly.
My eyes are open, despite my state,
A dreadful day, that is my fate.

Most nights, I can't sleep because I am too cold or because I am creating stories in my head. This poem was written at 2:30 Am on a school night.
