Escape
A deep pine scent seeps through the clothes I wear
As stars peek through the clear indigo sky
The orange fire gives off a bright glare
Up on a mountain ten-thousand feet high.
Closing my eyes I feel a sense of peace
Ignoring the weight of the bag I haul
The crisp mountain air billows through the trees
Which are changing to the orange of fall
I turn to the city lights below me
Dreading for when I will have to go back
The massive hills are where I always flee
For they possess things that the city lacks
This is my escape when I’m feeling stressed
This is where I go when my world’s a mess

I wrote this for Creative Writing and our teacher is making us submit something so I decided to submit this sonnet.
