I can’t relate (and I feel like a lot of people don’t) with Long when she said, “Everyone but me seemed to recognize the feeling. What was it like to think: I will never forget this feeling.” This is my personal experience, but I will never forget where I was when I heard about the Sandy Hook shooting. Once again, this might just be my view, but our generation has experienced many gripping events. I don’t think that the Kavanaugh hearings are one of those moments that “people all over the country fell silent and focused on one thing.” The hearings weren’t broadcasted in classrooms during school hours like 9-11 was. My friends and I didn’t sit around our lunch table and talk about it like we did with Sandy Hook when we were in fifth grade. To me, it is hard to validate it as a moment that grabbed attention from the country and its youth.
