My favorite letter in the alphabet is “D” because it is my name opener. I also always pick “D” on multiple choice when I don’t know the answer because D for Davis. My second favorite letters are “A, B, C” because of the fact that they are the face of the alphabet. They act as a sort of nickname for the entire alphabet - I often just say my “ABC’s” instead of pronouncing the whole word “alphabet. Thirdly, my favorite small group of letters is “L, M, N, O, P” for the reason that when I was a little kid, I thought that these letters were pronounced “elemenopee” because of the ABC song. Another one of my favorite letter combinations is “H, I” because when they are sung next to each other in the alphabet, they spell “hi.” Another set of letters that stand out to me are “X, Y, Z.” They’re like the mysterious trio at the end of the alphabet, almost as if they guard the finish line. “X” is cool because it shows up in math, treasure maps, and words like “x-ray.” “Y” is fun because it’s sometimes a vowel, sometimes not - it cannot make up its mind. And “Z” just feels strong; it’s the letter that ends the entire alphabet with a bang. I also have a soft spot for “S” because it shows up in so many plural words. Without it, the English language would be way more confusing. Some letters I don’t like as much are “Q” and “K.” “Q” always feels like it’s trying too hard. They just sound like rip-offs of good letters like the “C’ sound cuh and “Q”  just sounds like “cue.” Lastly, come every letter I didn’t mention: “E, F, G, J, R, T, U, V, W.” These letters mean so little to me that I will rank them in the order they appear in the alphabet. When I began thinking about what I was going to write about for this paper, I genuinely forgot that these letters ever existed, which is why they take up last place.
