American Dream
While reading “American Dream,” I was a little confused on the purposed of the poem. From what I understood, it was a description of a dream. At first the person wants to get up and start the day, but then the dream continues to happen. The broken glass on the street leaves me to believe that the mood of the poem is dark and mysterious. Then the milk and honey gives a more positive feeling. At the end it is questioned what would happen if you just keep following this path. So is the poem saying that life at times is hard followed by good (honey and milk). If we just keep following our path will good or bad happen?
