"Just Listen" is the story of Annabel Greene, an epitome of "The Girl Who Has Everything". She's a model. she's popular in school, she has a picture-perfect family--all in all, she has the life everyone wants to have: a perfect one. At least, that's how it is in the beginning. Then all of a sudden, things take a huge turn-around.

-Annabel's sister is in and out of the hospital and eventually, rehab.
-Annabel wants to quit modeling but she can't find the opportunity or the courage to tell her mother
-Annabel's friend accuses her of wanting to sleep with her boyfriend when actually the latter tries to rape her
-Annabel's status in school diminishes to outcast.

And she doesnt' tell anyone anything at all. Until Owen.

When mysterious music-lover Owen Armstrong lends her a hand, they develop an unusual friendship that just might be a little more. Annabel learns a lot from Owen in terms of music, friendship, and trust, and in time, learns to open up him.

Sarah Dessen's "JUst Listen" is one of the best books I've ever read. I might be a little biased since I love all of Sarah Dessen's books, but I can tell you that this is one book that's definitely worth reading. Each of the characters has a distinct and memorable personality, be it endearing or unappealing. All the words that Dessen uses blend perfectly together making the flow of the story smooth and engaging. Dessen uses the familiar psychological exploration that you can find in all her books, and with "Just Listen" gives us another book to learn from and love. I give this book a 99 out of 10! ^_^
