When I first read Little Women, I was about eight or nine. I didn't understand much of it at the time, being in second grade. All I knew was that I really enjoyed it. When I read it again recently, I was shocked to discover that I still loved it as much as I had in elementary school. When searching for more reviews about it, I was again shocked by how few there were.

Little Women is a well-written novel that seems to have been shoved back into the corners of closets, having been abandoned for more "popular" books such as Harry Potter and Twilight.

The main characters are the March sisters. In order of age, they go Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. Each of them have their own trials they are trying to overcome. For Meg, it's her vanity; Jo, tomboy-ish habits that are frowned upon in society; Beth, being shy; and Amy- who, being the youngest, is quite possibly the most spoiled out of the bunch- her selfish desires.
Their family hasn't got much money, and their father is away at war for the first half of the story, but they do their best with what little they have.
As the characters grow and flourish under the care of their mother, who is lovingly referred to as Marmee, they overcome trials, fall in love, learn a great many lessons from their experiences, and each eventually achieves their dream.
I found it to have been written with a lot of emotion, for it is both joyful and sad, proud and humble, kind and bittersweet.

For others, Little Women may just be that one book that they don't want to read because it wasn't published before 1990, but for me, it's probably the book that I love the most. It is truly a classic, and it has helped me through some hard points in my life. I recommend you read it, whether you think you'll like it or not. It's a seriously awesome book.
