Maxine is a young thirteen year old girl that loves to go to the arcade to play all types of video games. Her big competitor in the arcade goes by the gamer name “Mighty Zola” but his real name is Cam. Cams’ two years older than Maxine and they go to the same school. He always said very impolite and offensive things to Maxine. For an example Cam would say things like “You’re a very stupid girl” or “You have the brain of a five-year-old, Amazing.” Cam is stuck-up and thinks he is the boss of everyone because his father owned one of the local Chinese restaurants…. WOW. So on an ordinary day Maxine’s brother Derek was going on to school and that afternoon he never came back. Derek was missing for ten months now and one day someone called and said Derek was dead. Their family was very upset; all of a sudden the phone rings… Maxine answers “Hello.” Maxine couldn’t  believe what she was hearing… It was Derek

Catherine Macphail did a very well job of achieving her purpose. This book was very powerful and always kept me on the tip of my toes wondering what was going to happen next, which made me want to keep reading. Overall I really loved this book and it was very interesting. I’m the type of person that doesn’t really like to read and it’s not really that important to me, but this book really changed my mindset on reading. If you like books that keep you thinking or you like books with suspense, I think this would be the perfect book for you.

Missing was very well written. Along with that this book taught me a lesson and that is to spend as much time with your family as much as you can and treat each family member with the same kind of respect because you never realize how much you love someone or something till it’s gone.
