Alternating between periods, "Why Women Kill" gives us insight into the lives of three wealthy women: Beth Ann, an obedient housewife from 1963, Simone, an 85 high-society figure with a luxurious life and a 'perfect' marriage, and Taylor, a modern-times successful lawyer in a polyamorous relationship. After discovering proof of infidelity in their marriages, the protagonists pass through a series of events leading to a fatal disclosure: murder.

The show taught me a lot about the female condition in the 20th century and made me realise that society's vision of the role of women in marriage hasn't evolved as much as we like to believe. Also, the vintage cars, the extravagant non-stop living, and the dysmorphic sense of fashion provide us with a realistic image of the aesthetical misconceptions set by the community back then.

The series is so well developed that it allows us to engage with the characters to the point that we find ourselves crossing our fingers for the protagonists to get away with the crimes. A detail that won me over was the setup. Even though the time difference, all the major scenes, and the murders themselves, happen in the same Pasadena mansion where the three characters had lived, adding a certain sense of irony to the plot as if it implies that every couple who gets to live there is doomed to suffer the same destiny.

If you’re into an old-fashioned drama filled with comedy and a somehow twisted ending, then this is the series for you.

This review was actually for my English class but I loved it so much I knew I had to share it with you. This review only considers the first season, as the second one has a different story (which I didn't enjoy as much and never finished watching), but the first one is pure gold.
