Sonic 2 on Sega Game Gear
If you read my game reviews, and saw the title, you might think “Why are you reviewing the same game”? The title might make you think it’s the same thing but on the Sega Game Gear, but you’d be wrong. very, very wrong.
Story:
Instead of Sonic and Tails going to stop Robotnik together like in the genesis version, Sonic has to save Tails by giving Robotnik the chaos emeralds for his freedom. This is random but, If this is about Sonic saving Tails, why is tails running with sonic on the cover? You might think that they defeated him in the picture but no, robotnik is in the back with his robots, there is no escape scene like this in the game. But that’s probably just me being a little picky with the cover.
Gameplay:
The game is simple, go to the right and get to the goal without losing rings. There’s no spin-dash though, so keep that in mind while playing.
Downsides and score:
The game seems like your regular Sonic game, but When you start playing the game extremely hard. few lives and continues, no rings when you fight bosses. I have no problems with hard games, I enjoy them. I got a kick out of the difficulty in Spider-Man and Venom:Maximum Carnage, but that game didn’t have difficulty spikes. It starts off easy, and gets increasingly harder. This game though, is hard right from the start. I can’t get passed the first boss without losing some lives. This game is still fun,and it’s not Sneak King, But difficulty wise the game is pretty unfair. This game gets a 6.5/10
How can I get it?
If you want to experience the difficulty of this game you can look for it in a retro game store. If you don’t have a Game Gear yet, find one online or off, but make sure it works. Be sure to have batteries though, you’ll go through a lot. if you don’t want to go through it all, find an emulator or play it online.
