Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Christy woke up with a panicked shriek and fear chilling her bones. Her body shook with the realization it was a dream. A cold sweat broke out over her body, her mind racing of the thoughts running through her mind. Her dreams were getting worse. Her own mind was torturing her.
“Maybe it’s because I’m starting a new school…” Christy thought, reassuring herself that this yearwouldd be different. “Itwouldd make sence with all the wweird dreamsI've had.” Christy thought of her nightmare…
Christy was walking down the halls of her knew school, faces staring at her. So innocent and sweet but then they started to change slowly, their features turning grotesque and evil. They were all monsters who were after her. Animalistic sounds erupted from their bodies as they crouched low to the ground and began chasing after her, till she was knocked on the ground…
That was the only thing she could remember. Everything elsewouldd disperse and leave Christy wondering what happened next. Though she guessed already whatwouldd have happened.
Christy arrived at her new school and glumly found her seat in her first period. She wanted to be back at home with all of her friends but she knew thatwouldd never happen. She was a freak now. The girl who said the twin towerswouldd fall. They all thought she was apart of some terrorist group, which was ridiculous! Her own parents were in the towers that day and died. She remembered it like it was yesterday, which wasn’t to far off. It had been only a month sence the towers fell.
It was September 11, 2001 and Christy arrived at school, instantly surrounded by friends and warmth. She had a party the night before because her parents were in New York and she had some freedom. Christy suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head as if something was trying to scratch its way out. All of her friends watched as she fell, images flooding her mind of an explosion and the towers. Even her parent’s faces when they realized they weren’t going to make it home…Christy didn’t realize she had passed out until people were saying her name and touching her. Faces began flooding her vision, concerned and worried.
“Christy are you okay dear?” her teacher asked, everyone else surrounding them in circlee.
“The towers, my parents…” Christy stammered her face as white a ghost. They all looked at her as if she was crazy and a male teacher ran into the room.
“Turn on your TV!” he demanded before running out again. Christy’s teacher hurriedly went over to the large TV that was set in the corner of the room and turned it on, everyone gasping as they saw the twin towers. The first one had a large hole in it and it was burning. Then the most shocking thing was a plane flew in the other town, a huge boom and more smoke and fire erupting. The room was deep silent as they watched the TV, Christy standing up and going closer to see. People began jumping out of windows and trying to clime out of windows with curtains and things they could find…
Christy remembered the looks on there faces as they turned around to stare at her, the looks of anger and shock. They thought she was a freak.
“Maybe I am…” she thought. All her life she had felt something was different about her. Everyone else knew it too. In sports she was great because she was good at guessing the plays and even with simple things as tests she never had to study because she automatically knew it. Sometimes she could even read peoples thoughts.
“Everyone this is our new student, Christy, Christy can you please stand?” Christy snapped out of her thoughts and stood up, everyone’s head turning to look at her. She looked at everyone with her striking cat like, green eyes, tucking her brown hair behind her hair. Besides her eyes she wasn’t anything special. She was just plain and dull compared to other girls. She sat back down being consumed by her thoughts again as her new teacher, Mr. Tyler was speaking. Maybe this year she could be different, anything she wanted. Popular, jock, cheerleader, geek or even like those newborn pops. She jumped as something hit her back. She looked behind her and a crumpled piece of paper sat on the ground next to her. Christy looked at the teacher before picking it up and flattening out the paper. It read:
“Be careful. This school is not what it seems. There’s a reason you’re here.”
Christy instantly looked around the classroom, everyone ignoring her as they either were on their phones or listened to Mr. Tyler. She sighed and looked down at her desk in despair and waited for the class time to end.
