Divergent is a fictional young adult novel, written by Veronica Roth. Veronica Roth is a twenty-four year old author. Divergent has one squeal; Insurgent. Veronica studied creative writing at the Northwestern University. Veronica is now a full-time writer. Veronica is still young, so there isn’t much to say about her. Divergent was the first book that she published. Veronica is currently working on the third novel for Divergent.
Divergent, a fictional novel about a young girl named Beatrice Prior. Beatrice is later named “Tris”. The main characters are Beatrice and Four. Four is a mysterious character. He’s often sneaky and acting sly. Beatrice on the other hand is very quiet. She keeps things to herself. The story takes place in a society that breaks people up into five different groups. The Dauntless; the Brave, Abnegation; the Selfless, the Erudite; the Intelligent, the Candor; the Honest, and the Amity; the Peaceful are all the groups. Beatrice struggles with an extraordinary secret.
Beatrice and her other fellow peers, take a test. The test helps everyone get an idea of which group they would fit best in. The test is given to everyone around the teen age. Once you get your results, you decide on your own which group you fit best in. Then, a few days later, the society holds a ceremony. The ceremony is where you decide to your group. Beatrice chooses the Dauntless. Her brother on the other hand chooses another group which separates the two siblings. She says her goodbyes and starts heading to the Dauntless base.
Upon heading to the base, she gets put through a test. Beatrice enters a test and is immediately forced to do the test. She and many other peers are forced to jump off the train they were in. Beatrice jumps onto a roof of a building. They kept jumping to other roofs until they reached a cliff. There they climb on top of the cliff. To test their bravery, everyone has to up off the cliff and into a pit of darkness. Believe it or not, Beatrice is the first one to jump.
When Beatrice jumps, to her surprise there’s a net on the bottom. The net recuses Beatrice from hitting the floor. One of the members greets her. He introduces himself as ‘Four’. Four asks for Beatrice’s name. He tells her now that she’s in the Dauntless base, she could choose any name she wanted. So, Beatrice tells Four that her name is ‘Tris’. From that point on, she lives in the base and secrets get revealed.
The theme of Divergent is simply living in fantasy. Beatrice struggles to live in a harsh world. Beatrice is brave and kind. She knows survival comes first and this tale will make you jump out of your seat. The story is defiantly worth reading. If you looking for an interesting novel, read this amazing story.
