She Floats
She floats. The water rushing through her veins. Waves surrounding her and taking her with them. Swimming makes her feel free and away from the stress she feels every day. Over and over. It’s an escape from her family and school. The shouts never stop. Night and day she screams in her head to stop the fighting. It doesn’t. She goes to school to get away from her house, only to deal with rumors. Rumors about her family, her life. She knows her family isn’t perfect but she wants them to stop. Stop right now. Every day and every night she thinks about a better life somewhere. Peaceful. She continues with her life and hopes that everything will make itself better, but it doesn’t. After trying to think of reasons to push through all the rough patches, she decides there are none. She goes to escape from her problems. Wanting to stay with the water forever. Does she float? I may never know.
