She walked across the empty gym, her every footstep echoing through the room. When she got to the center circle, she stopped. She stood there in the very center of the huge room, staring up at the ceiling covered in pipes and vents. She had no idea how much time had passed while she stood there motionless.

If you have never stood in the center of an empty gymnasium, then you cannot possibly understand the feeling of complete emptiness. You feel almost like you are the only person in the world. That’s exactly how she felt. Most would say that standing in an empty gym would be extremely lonely and nearly unbearable.

But she wanted to feel alone. Separated. For when you are alone, you can control the outcome of every conversation. There is no worry over what others think. It is only you, and to her, that was a peaceful feeling.
