This book is about six people who have been with each other for as long as they could remember, and have a few tangled relationships. They each have a scarring past with one shared goal; evading the MIW and eventually destorying it.

Chapter 1: Full Flash Fiction Piece:

Run. This simple, single syllable word holds much more importance than any other that they could say. They have heard this word so many times it is uncountable, yet every time that they hear this simple utterance, the familiar swell of panic and fear takes control of mind and body, and every impulse in their beings force their bodies to move in the familiar motion that they perform every time they hear that word.
They no longer have to think about what to do or where to go; they have been on the run for so long, and have been together through it all, that they can tell from the slightest quiver upon each others’ faces what they will do next. Whenever they hear The Noise that they identify as the Men in White’s pursuing vehicles, they all look at their leader, Wesley, for direction and guidance that is needed to maintain their constant flawless escapes.
There were six of them; Wesley, Annabel, Josie, Ryan, Wisteria, and Tobias, each of them with their own retelling of the same happenence; The First. The first attack, the first meeting of the six, their first experience with bitter, malevolent sorrow. Most of their memory has been filled with their continuous flight from their pursuers, but there was a time before all of this, where everything was normal. This vague, distant memory, meant to remind them that there was a time before the Men and White, has been tinged with the poison of pain and fear, which comes with the sight of your parents been brutally beaten and dragged away by the same people you have since been running from for your whole life.
The suffering is tangible upon the six. Wesley is the most handsome guy that Annabel has ever met; with side-swept jet-black hair and bright, yet deep green eyes. Though, there is a faint but distinct sadness there, a subtle broken spirit, which you can only see if you spend a lot of time staring into his eyes (which Annabel often did). He hides it well with his resilient attitude and constant bravery. Annabel, who is the most gorgeous girl that Wesley has ever known, (though he won’t admit it), is graced with stunning blue eyes, which much resemble a husky’s, and beautiful golden curls that cascade over her shoulders. And yet, there is still a feel of loss of hope in the air around her. Then, there is Josie, with her shoulder length red, fiery hair, and her trademark colorless gray eyes. She, out of all of them, is the one who is the most sensitive and emotional. Anytime there is a mention of their family’s attack, she bursts into tears, forcing everyone to refrain from talking about it until she is not around. Next comes Ryan, who has handsome, rugged features, and stylish, close-cropped blonde hair, with a bit of a spike in the front. He has dark brown eyes that remind Wisteria (whom Ryan fancies) of a labrador retriever’s. Wisteria, who is the most wild, has long, wavy black hair with purple ends, which compliments her curious purple eyes, that are so deep that you could never see the end of them, no matter how long you stare. They hold a particular despair, as if she had the eyes of a very old woman who has lived through and saw the earth, her once flourishing home, turn to a barren wasteland. She has a flawless, porcelain-like complexion that Ryan finds astounding, and even though he has tried many times to show her how he feels, she remains oblivious to his countless attempts. Finally, there’s Tobias, who has very ordinary dark brown hair that is a bit overgrown, and hazel eyes that he hates because of their blandness, which he feels is down-right typical next to Josie’s marvelous gray eyes. Alas, she has a huge crush on Wesley, even though it is obvious to everyone except her that he and Annabel have undeniable chemistry. She never notices Tobias in the background, swooning over her beauty.
Even through all of the tangled mess of each one’s relationship with one another, they still manage to evade the Men in White (MIW) every time they come close enough to be threatening. At least, they did until the MIW found a way to stealthily sneak up on them. It only took one minute of Annabel staying back to pack her bag for them to capture her and knock her out, leaving the last sight in her mind Wesley sprinting toward her, just far enough away to plant a seed of despair in her heart, leading her to believe there was no chance of seeing him ever again.
