One Of Them
Lila was a very happy child. She loved life; she could find the positive in everything. She grew up with her best friend Daisy. They were both very happy kids; they were always laughing and smiling. When they entered middle school Daisy stayed the same happy girl she always was. At first Lila did too. A couple months into the school year Lila’s whole mindset changed. She didn’t know why, but she got really depressed and anxious. She knew she couldn’t tell Daisy about it because she only wanted positive things in her life. After about a month of always being depressed Lila started self-harming. She didn’t tell anyone for the first two months. Then she decided she should trust Daisy and tell her because she was her best friend. One day after school Daisy went to Lila’s house. Lila thought that was the time to tell her. After an hour or so she turned to Daisy with a sad look. “What happened? Are you okay ?” Daisy asked worriedly because she’s never seen Lila upset. Lila’s mind was empty. She couldn’t get the words together. She wanted her best friend to know so she opened her mouth, but no words came out. Daisy kept asking if Lila was okay. She was so concerned. Lila was quiet as tears started rolling down her face. She pulled her sleeve up. Daisy covered her mouth with a gasp. She sat down real close to Lila and said, “You’re one of us now.”. Lila had a confused look on her face until Daisy rolled her sleeve up too.
