One day, Abby was playing in the yard, when a pair of caterpillars crawled into her hand. “What are your names?” little Abby asked the caterpillars. Naturally, the caterpillars were not informed enough to form an appropriate response that meets the demands of the question asked of them. Realizing that caterpillars generally do not speak English, Abby began teaching them. She would return to play with them and teach them more after she got home from school each day, until it was time for her to go to bed. Slowly but surely, they caught on. As she grew up, they learned more and more from her. But unfortunately, it was time for Abby’s family to move. She knew it was time to send them back. The caterpillars softly wiggled in her hand, spelling out “goodbye.”
