Between Two Worlds
Went to the seaside In-N-Out for lunch yesterday. They weren’t open this early, so we wandered over to the ocean to kill time. It was an amazing morning. Clear, with a chilly breeze running through my hair. It was high tide with the early morning sun casting long shadows on the lumpy sand. Everything was shining with the sun’s early morning light, but the sky was still dark. We were directly in between two opposite worlds: Day and night, land and sea, earth and sky. The wind was sweeping the dry sand over the wet sand, white snakes slithering over a dark landscape. I was starving. My nose was torn between the two smells: the aromatic sea air wafting through my nose, the smell of sweet cheeseburgers complete with fresh produce and a perfectly cooked patty.
