A Dream Of A Wonderful Land
The night time rises into the atmosphere and the only light in my room tonight is the moonlight gazing upon the cracks in my curtains as they blow in the icy wind of fall. The croaking of the frogs from far away fill my ears with a blissful tune as I drift into thought.
As I open my gaze, my eyes fill with just a sliver of light to a whole world of colors. I lay on the ground and look up at the pink sky. I see tall plants surrounding my resting exterior. The air feels like medicine to my tight lungs. Every breath I can feel my chest open wider and wider accepting the chilly antidote of the golden hour breeze. Taking my time to rise up, I look around as to where I am. On my feet, I see the rest of the world around me. It’s marvelous. The warm hues of the land compliment the setting sun casting a pink sky across the horizon. To my right there's grass, soft and freshly cut, stretching out as far as I can see before the world itself rounds off. Taking a leisure to my left I see a grand forest filled with nothing but eye candy. The greens of the trees and the reds of the flowers below them. Living creatures like butterflies, deer, and snakes roam the natural spaces built in between the structure of the trees.
I want to see more. I need to see more. With every step I took in any direction the ground was soft and gentle on my feet. I felt like I needed to start running towards this new found place of wonder. Then I was interrupted by a loud “DING DING DING!”
Opening my eyes, I realize it was all a creation of my mind. All I could do was sit in silence for a moment or two, a little disheartened. Was all of this just my imagination? Does this fantastical world full of colors and life really not exist? I hear a knock on my door and moments after my mother barges through the door in complete excitement.
“Are you all packed and ready? We are leaving for the state park in twenty minutes!”
State park? Right, that's where we are adventuring off to today. A place with painted sunset skies, air fresher than an apple picked right from the tree, grass softer than a newly groomed puppy, and a forest full of new exciting sights. Wait a moment, I thought. That description… it sounds all too familiar….
