Happiness is as a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.
- Nathaniel Hawthorne

The men lumbered around the construction site. Drinking coffee and eating the last donut till lunch break. The breeze swirled around them, swishing in the tall pines around them. The workers were commenting on their views of the new Walmart being created on the site. Many were ecstatic, knowing that their husbands or wives could drive to go shopping there and would take pride in knowing they had helped build it. One worker looked around, solemnly taking in the wreckage. A pile of lifeless trees were flayed in a mud puddle. He thought, “What time have come upon this place.” Hawks circled above, screeching about the wretched noises of the machines and wood chippers warming up. That worker had had enough. The screaming and whistling were overcoming his sanity. These people were embarking on destroying something sacred. Resting his hat down on a tree, he turned away from the site and walked away, his boots sinking into the watery mud. There has to be something better than that.
