Hero/Heroine
"Brooke, wait!" Ethan called as he ran after her. She heard him, but didn't stop. He was never going to control her again. "Brooke!" Ethan yelled again. Brooke ran faster, determined not to let him catch her. But he was gaining on her, and in one leap, Ethan had tackled her to the ground.
"Let go of me!" Brooke screamed. "Get off me, I've made up my mind. It's over!"
Ethan's eyes were wild with rage. "No! Not until you tell me why!"
"I already told you, Ethan. I've told you a million times. I can't handle your lifestyle anymore! The drinking, the drugs, the parties...I just can't do it!" And in one quick motion, she rolled out from under Ethan and got up. Brooke ran to her car and drove off as fast as she could.
Brooke had met Ethan three years ago. A mutual friend had introduced them, and they had clicked from the start. Ethan was handsome, and charming, Brooke had thought. After about a year, he finally asked her out, and they had been dating for the past two years. Everything had been great; until Ethan had begun to show his darker side, the real Ethan. The real Ethan was addicted to heroin, and was on the verge of a die-hard alcoholic.
Ethan always tried to get Brooke to try heroin, but she resisted. At least, she resisted as long as she could. Brooke had loved Ethan, and wanted to make him happy. So when he said he would leave her if she didn't at least take one hit, she tried it. And became addicted, just like him. However, unlike him, Brooke had broked the spell heroin had put on her, and vowed to be sober forever. Her life had been hell, and it was all because of Ethan.
It was time for Brooke to move on, to get her life back together. Ethan had been like a poison to her, something she couldn't get away from no matter how hard she tried. But now, it was time.
Brooke pulled over to the shoulder of the road and cried. She had hurt so many people by being vurnable to Ethan, and it was time to heal the wounds. She looked down as her phone rang. It was Ethan. She rejected the call, and turned her phone off. Her new life had begun.
