                                                   FLY

I walk outside, bookbag on, ready to go to school. But I look up at the sky, and I wonder;
"What would it be like to fly?".
Since I was a little kid, I have always wanted to fly. But unfortunately, humans do not have wings.
But as a little kid I hear of this thing called skydiving. It's not the same as flying, but you jump
out of a plane and get to free fall down towards the ground. Skydiving is not as it seems to be, you
go very high up into the air and the sight is terrifying.
All day at school, I think about the sky. Birds must feel so free to be in the sky all day long not
falling to the ground. I go home and talk to my mom. "I want to go skydiving" I say. "Why would you want
to go skydiving, don't you know hows dangerous that is? What if the parachute doesn't open up and you
fall straigh to the ground knowing you're going to die?" my mom says to me. And all I can think about is
how I don't care what could happen, I just want to fly.
My 17th birthday is coming up, and all I can think about it how I want to go sydiving for my birthday.
It's what I've wanted for so long, hopefully my parents can finally allow me. I walk into the living room.
"Mom?" I say. "What is it?" "I want to go skydiving for my birthday, you know it's what I've always wanted
to do.". " But why would you want to jump from that high up, it's practically suicide?!" my mother says.
"I don't care what could happen, I just want to fly!" I say. My dad over hears this conversation and tells
me that he has a friend that has gone skydiving about 30 times and he gets good discounts and that maybe I
can get a discount if I go with him. I think to myself "Finally! I get to do what I've wanted to do for so
long and fly!".
My birthday is finally hear, and the day I get to fly, and I am ver excited. I walk into the flight
school with my dad's friend. I look around, and it looks awesome, seeing people going into planes getting
ready to go up into the air to jump. I'm here for a tantem jump, which is when I have somebody on my back
to pull the chute and make sure I'm okay going down. But I can't jump without going through a course to
make sure I know all the safety tips and have everything I need to know down so I can go on the jump.
After the course is over, I'm ready for my jump, and I'm feeling as nervous as ever, I finally get to do
what I've always wanted to do and fly.
I get on the plane, and my heart is pounding. The plane starts its ascend, and I'm feeling very excited
but terrified at the same time. I look down as I get higher and higher off the ground and I feel amazing.
Once we are up in the air and the doors open, I know it's my turn for the jump. I go to the edge of the
plane and I look down; I'm very high off the ground. I count "1, 2, 3" and I jump.
And I fly.
