Ending Racism
Racism is believed to be the primary determinant of human traits and that racial differences make an inherent superiority of a certain race. People that believe in racism tend to hate other groups according to their own. People that judge others by the color of their skin is irritating, why hate someone by the color of their skin or appearance instead of their personality? We are all the same in a way, just with different color skin types, looks, and personalities. It shouldn’t matter what you are on the outside but the person that you describe yourself to be.
The main problem
Discrimination happens often when people treat others differently through social division. Maybe because someone is a certain color they’ll be treated differently from others, researches in the University of Chicago show that in 2003 there was a discrimination in the workplace against job applicants whose names “sounded black.” This shows as strong evidence to how people can be unconsciously ridiculous.
Studies show that police have pulled over more blacks/latinos than whites. In New York City, 80% of the stops were blacks/latinos, compared to 8% of the white people stopped. Although we might not see it or pay close attention, most people use racism in a way that’s blind to the mind. We don’t think twice about it, and that can be an issue because then people find a way to manipulate the situation.
Still happening today
Today racism is still going on, it all depends where you are but all over the world people have issues with this from North America to Asia to Africa and so on. In order for racism to be over people of all races would have to acknowledge one another and have respect, this could nearly bring racism to an end or make a huge decrease and save many lives most definitely. The world is already changing so much and if everyone would show effort and allow their children to grow up with all kinds of people then this could make a really big impact.
If we could give people a chance from the start the world would currently be at a more peaceful state. Of course you will have obnoxious people that are just so sinister, but with real effort you can change someones mind about how they feel towards other races. Every word said can help put an end to racism today and in the future.
Making a stand
It takes guts to stand up to racism but there are plenty of things you can do to help this issue come to an end. If someone is being verbally racist you can tell them what they’re saying is offensive and disrespectful or to at least have respect in whatever the situation may be. Talk to friends and teachers about it, asking for their help will spread talk about the issue and raise attention. With enough awareness brought to the situation racism can come to an end in a different age.
