Winter’s empire has fallen.  The everlasting blanket of snow slowly recedes into the earth, revealing wet ground underneath.  Grey skies, penetrated by the sun’s rays, transform into white puffy clouds.  Naked limp trees begin to stand erect - blossoms, buds, leaves all decorating their branches.  Everything drips in melting snow, trees leak disappearing icicles, grass shivers in the soggy ground, cold puddles form in the mud.  What were once white misty breathes that punched the cold air have become warm exhales that fill the melting world.
And then the flowers.  Covered in water droplets that reflect sunbeams, flowers bud and bloom everywhere.  Soft purple lilacs dot countless bushes, pure white lilies create elegance, blue bells chime in the wind, bleeding hearts dangle from vines and cry the last of winter’s drops away.  Rich red, fiery orange, bright yellow - the tulips set the fields ablaze in spring’s warmth.  Beauty and delicate refinement.  The flowers paint on the white canvas of winter.
The sun shines.  Hidden away for months, the shafts of light nurture the earth back to life.  Matted grass grows lush and velvety.  Damp trees are distilled as green leaves and young buds emerge from their branches.  Steam and dew moisten and thaw the brisk air.
The plants perk at the arrival of rain.  Not dark and rough but warm and miraculous, the rain drizzles food to the leaping grass and supplies warmth to growing petals.  The rain diminishes the last of winter and patters the ground in serenity.  Sun and rain dance together in the warm afternoon, and a guardian rainbow materializes over the tranquil scene.
The world changes and the miracle of life continues.
