My Eyes
The boys in my family have brown eyes. The girl’s gain blue eyes from Mom’s side. Brown eyes like Brown Bears or chocolate labs. Blue eyes like big oceans or the sky on a clear summer day. But my eyes are different. They are blue like the rest of the girls but one little spot gleams golden brown.
It’s not like brown that the boys have. It is yellow like the pages of an old book. Some days I despise it, thinking that a bright blue eye is best. If you look long enough, the spot seems to grow. If it keeps growing, I wonder if my blue eyes will turn blonde. For now, my eyes are blue but that little gold spot still remains.
