Angel

Golden rays steaming down to the soft flowing grass. We turn our heads to the unforgiving sky. The clouds make a heavenly gateway, uninviting to all of us. We squint and shield our eyes from the light beating down on us. The clouds move farther apart to reveal an almost blinding white opening. Then like someone’s dream a figure appears in the scene. The grass was now crushed beneath my unsteady feet. Goosebumps intrude my skin on the burning hot day. Floating gently like a feather the figure begins the journey to the ground. The wind rides gently under the wings and pushes up on each fragile feather. It’s a smooth ride down since the air is moving in a gentle flow. I rub my arms as I try to erase the everlasting mark of my fear and interest. As their feet gently touch the ground neatly matching the layout of the earth, I nearly get tears in my eyes. Half from fear and wonder. The other half from what I see.

I see an angel.
