A Polite Request
“Please leave me alone.” I ask politely.
Rudy snuffles forlornly as she pads out of the room. I return to my lunch.
I don’t need that dog anyway, I’m fine on my own.
I stand up, running my fingers along the rough terrain of the table.
“Where are you?” I call out.
The air caresses my face as I step through the open front door.
Calloused feet graze soft grass, then rough pavement. I hear the whizz of cars gone past. Toes touch slick wetless. I lean down and my fingers brush against limp fur.
My hand grips the red vest.
