Imagination
I was sitting at the table eating Bagel Bites when I first heard it. It sounded like two women talking. But you'll never guess where it was coming from...the drawer with all the silverware! A cold shiver ran down my spine while listening to their conversation.
"When are we going to do it?" said the first voice.
"Any time when the humans aren't home," said another.
"Well, they mustn't find out."
"She won't," the second voice said as I crept toward the drawer. Then the voices stopped. I opened the drawer and in there were only the two beautiful dainty spoons. I remember I used to love playing with as a small child. I shook my head and closed the drawer. Must be my imagination.
As I walked back to the table, I heard the first voice say, "Whew! That was a close one, I didn't know any of the humans were home right now!"
"SHHHHHHHHHHH!" the second one said.
Another cold shiver ran down my spine. I never heard another word from that drawer again.
