Win the Game
At least once a day, I have wished that I were dead. And I’ll listen to sad songs and that feeling will just get stronger. All the good things that day would flush from my skin and appetite would vanish as if it were never there.
I’ll sit at my desk, the pen hovering over the paper. I want to start those words that will be my last. “I’m all alone. It’d be better if I didn’t exist.”
But I can’t say that because deep down, even though there’s so many people that may hate me… There is at least one person who doesn’t hate me. Everyone knows that having one is better than having no one.
I throw the pen away and shut the book. The pills sit in their cupboard again, right where they belong, unopened. I lift the phone and dial their number. In a hushed whisper, “Thank you, for being you.”
Having one person is better than having no one. You may know that you at least one. But don’t think that you don’t have others you don’t even know of.
Don’t leave the world. Be BIGGER, BETTER! Beat them at their own game. You might hear this a lot. But if you commit suicide… Then already won.
DON’T LET THEM WIN !
