The writing titled “Coping With an Addicted Parent,” written by Heather, talks about how her son didn’t have a good relationship with his mom because she would stay out all night and not come home or tell him. I agree when she writes, ”I wish I had known I needed to do to help my mom earlier on. People are taught to support and help those they love, but in most cases, enabling the addict only worsens their condition.” I agree with that because you feel like it’s just going to make them mad and want to drink more. So, you just want to sit there and be quit because you want them to stop and you feel like if you argue they will drink more. And when they drink you don’t want to be around them because they are loud and annoying. You want them to stop so you like being around them. She also says, ”Realization has to be the first step before any change.” They say that because you can’t change if you feel like there is nothing wrong.
