My grandpa has a lot of perseverance. He had a heart attack about three years ago from smoking and too much caffeine. My grandpa went through surgery after surgery. He is a fighter. He quit smoking and drinking a lot of caffeine.
My grandpa inspires me to be the best I can be even when everything is falling apart. My life has always been a rollercoaster—sometimes scary, exciting, happy, and sad. I’ve had a lot of hardships in my 17 years of being alive. Even though my life has been in pieces, I learned to always have a positive attitude and mindset. I learned to take baby steps for healing. My dog, Levi, died last night. I’ve had Levi since I was five years old. My grandpa told me “Your dog is not hurting, which is all that matters. You will get through this.”
My grandpa supports me no matter what, even when he was sick and in the hospital. He always seems to make me smile. When he is confronted with setbacks, he doesn't dwell on what went wrong, but focuses on finding solutions and moving forward.
This resilience has enabled him to navigate through life's uncertainties with grace and determination. If he can get through a heart attack and a coma. Then, I can get through anything.
My grandfather's story is a statute to the strength of perseverance, a lesson that everything is achievable. He encourages me to rise to obstacles, develop perseverance, and never give up on my goals—no matter how difficult the path ahead may appear.
