The Pain of the Smoke
Summary:
Irwin, a middle-aged man that lives under a government that oppresses citizens while citing pollution as an issue and praises a lack of emotional vulnerability, continues to live his life with his wife, Alisia, almost rhythmically as each day blends into one singular blur. He is haunted by the thoughts of his father constantly, remembering how he always chided the government and expresses his emotions regardless of societal norms, especially after a traumatic event involving his neighbors.
