A Cry For Help
“Help!” I muffled as I felt the giant waves of darkness creep over me filling me with more fear then ever. “Don’t you scream”! He said. “No!” I said, “Please don’t hurt me.” I was laying in the trunk of a big rusty truck; I didn’t remember what day it was or where I was or who I was with. All I could remember was a distant blur. I only remembered what happened before I got here. I was in my house happily messaging Aaron, He’s a guy that I had met on Imeet, We were strangers, but I had been talking to him for a couple of months and we both decided we had mutual feelings for each other and we decided to meet. By the way, my name is Jessica Suarez; I’m 16 and a junior in high school. My friends called me crazy for talking to this stranger I barely know. But, I on the other hand thought of it as meeting new people to friend. Well, as I was saying, it all began like a normal Wednesday afternoon. We decided to meet on Thursday at a local coffee shop in Morrisville. I thought of that as a great place for a first date. I was walking down town to a near by clothes store to shop for something nice. It was of course our first meet. That’s when I first noticed the brown van. There was a man whose face was covered by a mask. I thought I remembered seeing it at some place but I didn’t remember what place it was. I was about to enter the store when I was stopped by an unfamiliar voice. “Hey!” “You!” “Stop right there!” I turned around to see who it was. It was a man from a nearby store. He rushed towards me and handed me a note. “A man dropped this by and said to please give this to you.” I reached for the note. I glanced at it. It read “ Meet me here at exactly 5:00, if you choose not to meet me, something horrible might go on at the Suarez family”. “Who wrote this?” I asked looking up only to find that the strange man from the store was gone. I was terrified. My head spinning way to fast, I felt faint. I ran to the nearest store and stayed there until my watch read 4:50. I tried to look around to clear my mind but it didn’t seem to work. RINGG!! RINGG!! “Who’s calling?” I thought as I reached in my purse for my phone. It was a private number. “It must be Aaron,” I thought answering. “Hello?” I said. “I believe you have received my note,” the person said. “Who are you?” “How did you get my number?” I said. “I’m calling the police if you do not tell me who you are.” “If you do not arrive here in 10 minutes, you will be sorry” the person said. “Who are you?” I screamed into the phone. Beep, Beep, Beep was the only response I got. I tried to call back but the operator said that the number was unknown. I was more scared than ever. I didn’t know what to do. I finally decided that I wasn’t going to go anywhere and this person must have just been trying to mess with my head. But as much as I tried to tell myself that the more frightened I was. When it was finally time for the store to close I walked out of the store and started running home.
I was turning my street when I saw the brown van again. Who in the world was that I wondered? Why do I keep seeing the same van? Its like if the person was stalking me. As soon as the driver saw that I was looking at the car too much it sped off. I started to get a bad feeling about that van like if I was being watched and stalked by it. While I was walking I noticed some flashing lights and I heard sirens. I turned the street corner and saw that the cop cars and ambulances where at my driveway. I started to run the fastest I could. When I got to my house there were neighbors outside being nosy. I opened the gate frantically. I walked up to the ambulance just to find my mother inside of it. She was unconscious. “What happened?” I asked the cop crying and shaking. “Your house was broken into and your mother was hit in the head with a clay pot.” “There was also this note stapled to her blouse” the cop said handing me a piece of white paper with magazine letters cut out to form three words “ I warned you”. “Oh my God!” I said trembling. “This isn’t just a random break-in,” the cop said. “I think this was a planned break- in and whoever did this had only one motive and that was to hurt your family because nothing was stolen and your mother was the only person hurt”. “By the way you have not received any strange letters or haven’t had strange people stalking right?” He said. “No I haven’t,” I said lying. “Well, don’t worry we will continue investigating.” I wasn’t going to let my mother go into the hospital room by herself so I climbed into the back of the ambulance. This was my fault I thought. If only I listened to this person. When we got to the hospital they took my mom to a room to get her checked out. I was shivering and crying so much the doctor game me some sleeping medicine so I would get some rest. I had to sit up and wait for it to start working I waited for 20 minutes then it finally started working. I was getting really sleepy and my eyes were fuzzing up. I was looking out in the hall when a strange man caught my attention. He was wearing a black hoodie and but I couldn’t make out his face because my eyes were so tired and my vision was so fuzzy. Then it finally hit me. He was the creepy man from the brown van. Oh my God I thought. I wanted to scream for help but I couldn’t I didn’t have the strength to. When the man noticed I was staring at him he smiled and speed walked to another part in the hospital. The medicine finally had its full affect and I fell asleep. I woke up around 7:00 in the morning due to my mother finally waking up from her concussion. “Jessica?” She said. “Mama!!” I screamed jumping out of bed and rushing to her side. “Call the police” she said trembling. “Hurry before he comes back”. “Mommy what’s wrong?” “Who’s coming back?” “Did you see who attacked you?” I asked. But she just rolled over and fell asleep. I called for a nurse and told her my mom finally awoke but she was tired and fell back asleep. I was wondering what my mom was talking about and I really wanted to wake her up and ask her again but I decided to let her rest she would already be bombarded by a crowd of cops. I was sitting there when a nurse came to me and handed me a plate of breakfast, forks, spoons, napkins and a drink. “Thank you” I said. I reached for a napkin to wipe my hands with as I looked down I saw some letterings in the corner of the 2nd napkin. I picked it up and squinted to make out the letters. It read Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock your time starts on the clock. I turned to look at my clock and an alarm was set to ring at exactly ten. “Oh my goodness he was here,” I said crying quietly. I picked the alarm up and under it was a folded piece of paper. I unfolded it and it read, “if you ever want to see your beloved Aaron again you better hurry. Meet us at the café in Morrisville. If you fail to show up it will be the last time you see Aaron. “
I was so scared. I was crying so hard. I felt as if I couldn’t tell anyone. I finally decided I would have to go see him if I wanted to see Aaron alive and okay. I was balling the note up to burn it later when I was suddenly stopped by the same cop that I saw when my mother was hit by the stranger. “Hello”, he said. “I have just received a video recording of you receiving a piece of paper from a stranger,” he said. “But the tape was sent anonymously”. “What was that piece of paper you obtained from this stranger?” He asked. “What?” I said nervously. “Umm.. I didn’t.. I uhh..” “It’s going to be okay” the cop said assuring me. “I received a letter like the one my mom had stapled to her blouse”; I said tears running down my face. “I was so scared that something bad would happen so I didn’t say anything”. “Where is this letter at?” He asked. “I threw it out.” I said. The cop looked a bit annoyed and frustrated so finally he said “If you receive another letter like this, please don’t hesitate call me as soon as possible.” “Okay. “ I said walking out the door to go meet this stranger. I was so scared, I felt nauseous. I was turning the corner near the store when I saw the brown van again. “What in the world? I thought. This van is stalking me.” I tried to see the driver since he didn’t have its mask on. But he was turned the other direction. “Crap!” I thought. I started to run to the coffee shop. I opened the door. I walked in and the waitress asked for my name. “My name is Jessica.” I said. “Jessica” she said there is a table in the back reserved for you. “Thank you” I said walking to the back. When I got there to my surprise there was no one there. I was even more scared now. I was thinking maybe he got mad and decided to just get rid of Aaron. I started to tear up when I heard my name. “Jessica?” A voice said. I looked up to meet a tall, handsome, blue-eyed, blond. “Aaron?” I said looking at him. “Yeah it’s me” he said. “Oh my god! Your alive” I said wrapping his arms around me. “Yes I am” he said. “But, there’s a problem” he said looking out at the window frightened. “He is watching and he has a gun pointed at me he said if you don’t do what he says ill die.” “No! Oh my god.” I said crying. That’s when I noticed a small walkie-talkie in his pocket. What is he doing with it I thought? “Hey what’s with the walkie-talkie if he wants to kill you why do you have a walkie-talkie?” “He wants to hear everything we say” Aaron answered. “Hurry up, Lets just get this over with.” “Umm okay.” I said afraid I would make him mad and he wouldn’t like me anymore. “He wants you to take a ride with him” Aaron said. “What? Me? Why?” I said. “I don’t know he said grabbing hold of my hand but I promise I will do anything to help you”.” So where is he at?” I asked scared. “He’s waiting for you outside in the blue truck he said pointing to an old rusty blue truck.” “I’m scared” I said wrapping my arms around his neck. “It’s going to be all right, ill be here” he said wrapping his arms around my waist. “Fine okay” I said kissing his cheek and walking out the store towards the blue truck.
“Hello”, a sickening voice said I looked at the opened car door to the truck and saw a familiar face. “Oh my god! You’re the cop who kept questioning me” I said. “It was you all along”. “HELP!” I screamed. “Surprise!” he said with a smile on his face, out of the corner of my eye I saw Aaron running out of the store coming towards me. “Leave her alone” he yelled. “Shut up” he said reaching for something in his pocket, it was a gun. “Oh my god put that up” I said. “Be quiet!” He said hitting me in the head with the gun. “You best leave if you don’t want to get hurt” he said. “No you better leave because the cops are on their way” Aaron said. “You stupid boy” the cop said turning the car on and closing the door with me inside. He backed out of the parking lot and tried to drive away but Aaron was blocking his way and didn’t let him pass. “Get out of my way” he screamed but Aaron stayed where he was, out of anger the cop hit the speed and sent Aaron flying into the dashboard of the truck. “Aaron!” I screamed crying. “No!” “Shut up Cathy” he said. “What are you talking about?” I said. “My name isn’t Cathy its Jessica.” “Your lying to me.” he said. “Why do you always lie?” “I always loved you Cathy, but you betrayed me now you will pay.” “You’re insane” I said pushing him. “I’m sorry for this Cathy but I have to” he said hitting me in the head hard enough to knock me out.
*Several Hours Later*
I woke up after a while and that’s basically all I remember. Then after he put me in the trunk of the truck. He got off of the truck and walked into a place that looked to be some kind cabin or hide out. “Get out!” He said. “No please.” I begged “let me go”. “I’m sorry Cathy, You’re a bad woman” he said shaking his head back and forth. “But don’t you worry” he said “it will be the last time you play with any mans feelings.” “What are you talking about?” I asked. “Your crazy!” “I’m not Cathy, I’m Jessica!” “Why don’t you believe me?” I asked crying. “You’ve always been a good liar.” he said yanking me off of the truck. He dragged me all the way to the cabin and he grabbed some rope and tied me up. “Please don’t do this” I said. “Shut up Cathy your time will come” he said grabbing his keys and walking out the door. “Come Back” I yelled “Please Don’t leave me here”. I have got to get out of here I thought. My hands were tied but not my feet, I knew just what to do. I placed my feet firmly on the floor and shoved my self into the floor. Slam! The chair broke into pieces and I quickly found something to cut off the rope from my hands. I ran for a phone to call the cops I didn’t know where I was but I knew they would find me. “Hello you have called 911 what’s you emergency”? The operator said. “Yes hello? Please help me! I have been abducted and my abductor has just left”. “Could you tell us your name and age please”? The operator said. “Yes I said my name is Jessica Suarez and Ahh! Help”! “Beep beep beep hello? Hello?” The operator said. “You’re a bad bad girl Cathy” the cop said slapping me in the face. “Stop!” I said grabbing the knife I used to cut the rope and jammed it in his side. “Ahh!” He screamed out in pain. “Oh my god!” “What did I do?” I said crying. He hit the grown clutching his bleeding side. I started to run out the front door when he grabbed my foot and dragged me across the floor. “Help” I screamed. “Please don’t hurt me”. I said. “Oh you b****” he said struggling to stand up. He grabbed my hair and slammed my head on the ground over and over until it started bleeding. “You’re a liar and a cheat” he repeated over and over. I blurred out by the third hit. I was scared and I didn’t know what I should do. I wanted him to stop. “See Cathy what the price of your lies is?” “You see? He Said. Then all of the sudden he fell and passed out. I was laying on the floor to tired and in to much pain to try and run so I just laid there.
BAM! The front door was kicked open. “Hello, Its the FBI, Your under arrest” was the last thing I remembered before I blacked out. I ended up waking up in a hospital. My mom was sitting beside me holding my hand. “Honeys are you okay?” She asked. “Mommy where am I?” “You’re in the hospital.” she said. “What day is it?” I asked? “It’s Monday, you’ve been knocked out for a week” she said. “Where is he?” I asked crying. “He’s dead honey.” She said. “What?” I asked crying. “Yes honey.” “He bled out.,” she said. “I’m so glad your okay” she said. “Baby, please I need to know what happened”. Then I told her the story of what happened and about him calling me Cathy. Then after she told me that he had a wife who abused him and cheated on him and her name was Cathy but she was murdered by one of her lovers she said. I was just glad I was fine. “Where’s Aaron?” I asked. “Aaron?” my mom asked. “Who is that?” “A nice guy I met, the cop ran over him” I said “where is he?” I asked crying. “Oh the blond guy she said well baby I’m sorry but I believe he is in extensive care but they don’t think he will make it.” “No! No ! Noo! No!” I screamed. I got up and ran to extensive care with my mom behind me yelling stop you need to rest but I didn’t care I kept going. I got the extensive care unit and ran into one of the rooms and there laid my poor handsome Aaron so life less his face was filled with cuts and bruises and his arms were busted open and bleeding. “Please Aaron! Wake up!” I said sitting beside him. I started to cry uncontrollably “please, please, please,” I said. “Jessie?” He mumbled. “Aaron?” I said jumping on him. “Ouch!” He yelped. “Oh sorry.” I said hugging him tightly. Well, this is a start of something new I thought kissing his forehead and walking away. I was glad this nightmare was over and nothing like this would ever happen again.
