Of Memories Old and New
In forgotten rooms and dusty shelves,
Long corridors and secret places,
Old memories fade (of our broken selves).
Vast holes remain where before were faces;
Eternal love fails to nourish the phantoms of my past,
Yet you remain, and that suffices
Only hoping that this will last,
Unable to overcome these sacrifices.
And today old life dies and new life begins
In the crossroads of space and time.
Tomorrow will bring its own joys and sins;
As for today, I'll confess my crime:
Never have I forgotten you
And never shall I fail to recall your voice
(This I feel and this I say: what can I do?)
--For in matters of love I have no choice.

I wrote this poem on the last day of school, and though on the surface this poem might resemble a simple ode or rhymed poem, it's really talking about my love for a girl that I have to leave behind.
