Sleep
The clock ticks the seconds by.
 Wind whistles outside my window.
The sound of a car growing
 Louder, louder,
Its headlights flash against my wall,
Calling ghostly shadows out to play.
 Softer, softer,
 Until it disappears.
My cat chases an invisible creature
 Somewhere in the house.
 It’s time to sleep,
But it feels like I’m the only one that wants to.
