A Living Miracle

My eyes fill with sight,
As I rise to wake,
My heart is still beating,
With every breath I take.

I can feel every part of me,
Working as it will,
Take another look at me,
I’m a living miracle.

Every second’s precious
I cry out with dread,
Another five seconds,
And I might be dead.

I can still hear,
My voice sings this song,
Another five minutes,
We all could be gone.

The raging emotions,
From deep inside my soul,
How can we go on living,
When another loss takes its toll?

Why don’t we take the time,
To appreciate those loved more?
To every second cherish them,
And to care for them before…?

Why do small things matter so?
Time you can’t be buying.
It’s up to you to treat everyday,
Like you yourself were dying.

You are such a miracle,
Time is such a debt.
Live and love so you can live,
Eternally without regrets.
