Daisies
She steps outside into the pouring rain
The sky, it cries for each of her mistakes
She knows she only has herself to blame
But still, she mourns that chance she didn't take
And yes, back then she was just seventeen
And he, a boy not much older than she
Two daisies he did send, a note between
The words requesting, "Will you marry me?"
They both grew up and had lives of their own
And on occasion paths would intersect
But every now and then her thoughts would roam
To those four words that she chose to reject
And now, years in advance, her sins forgave
She lays two daisies down upon his grave
