Untitled MAG
Part 1
I had a day
when someone came to me and told me
"Change the world."
As I thought about the prospect
I realized how impossible the task was.
Everyone hopes for a life less ordinary;
one that glitters like a supernova
that casts off sparks.
The sparks could be caught
and clutched
as if an angel was in the
palm of your hand.
My angel didn't have wings.
I set off
knowing full well I would not succeed.
And that is where I failed.
Part 2
I had a day
when someone came to me and told me
"Change the world."
As I thought about the prospect
I realized the idea was tangible
but not plausible.
It was as if I was running my fingers through
an intricate spider web and
could not slide through its maze
of silk even though the way was slick.
I was too afraid of getting my
fingers caught.
I set off
knowing full well that I would try -
but having trepidation hold me in its tendrils.
And that is where I failed.
Part 3
I had a day
when someone came to me and told me
"Change the world."
I realized I could do it.
Even if one life was all I
impacted in my journey,
one life was worth far more
than none
and that makes all the difference.
Everyone has the stamp
of God
in their fingerprints
and with one touch you could save a life
or push them away.
I set off
knowing full well that it is better to live
with a few regrets and a full life
than with no regrets and a safe life.
And that is where I succeeded.
