A thousand roman candles have never lit a room,
Quite the way you do, Love, you're like the afternoon.

You shine like sets of silver, like suns and crescent moons,
With the way you light a room, boy, I love the way you do.

You taste of virgin summers, of glasses filled with June,
And the way you light a room! God, it's like you never knew.

No, a thousand roman candles have never made me do,
Quite the way I do, dear, when you brighten up the room.
