Warrior Poet

I saw the sky fall down today
I picked up my shield and sword that lay
A barren field, growing wider
Lives flat beneath this poet fighter.

Rain falls down and kisses the cheeks
Of a broken-down warrior whose loveheart leaks
The red burns like ice of the weapon-won blood
Poet fighter slays the emotional flood.

Increase the heartbeat through time of war
Defeat the trial and the enemy’s core
No words or souls will escape this writer
All pencils bow down to this poet fighter.

Crying out, lashing, stabbing at blame
A kid in the corner crying out one name
Submit a close call, a victory, a loss
Poet fighter live for the sight of the cross.

Embrace hurricane and stormy weather
Who fights to keep body and soul together
Who lives in the dark and will not show it
This is none other than the warrior poet.
